Gang style killings related to drugs have dramatically increased in rural Mexican towns. The killings have strategically targeted law enforcement, political officials, protestors and whistleblowers opposing powerful drug cartels. In many once sleepy traditional "old" Mexico villages, orgainized crime has seized political power.
